Spotted: Nicole Richie Shows Off Her Engagement Bling

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
We're deep in the thick of New York Fashion Week, for which MTV News has been on the ground catching up with stars like Kim Kardashian (stay tuned for more updates from Bryant Park). It has provided an ideal forum for stars to show themselves off, and it was a logical place for Nicole Richie to show off her latest piece of bling: An engagement ring. She just got engaged to longtime boyfriend Joel Madden of Good Charlotte. Rumors had circulated about the two of them finally getting hitched, but Richie spilled the beans to David Letterman during an interview that will air on "The Late Show" on Friday (February 19). Madden and Richie have been a couple for three years, and they already have two children together (two-year-old Harlow Winter Kate Madden and six-month-old Sparrow James Midnight Madden). Richie has experience in the fashion world: She has her own jewelry line, designed maternity clothes for A Pea in a Pod and was a guest judge on "Project Runway." Meanwhile, Madden is preparing for the release of his band's fifth album Cardiology.
